Iguazu Falls Brasil – Argentina

Thundering cascades, mist rising, rainbows dancing Arriving at Iguazu, the sweltering heat of the jungle presses in as coatis slip past along the bridge. On the wooden paths the sound grows louder with every step — we’re heading for the Devil’s Throat, La Garganta del Diablo, an immense curtain of water crashing into the gorge. Mist rises, wrapping us in silver light, rainbows arching across the spray. Crossing from the Argentinean to the Brazilian side, we stand awed before a panoramic view. The sky darkens; not only does the river fall in torrents, but heavy rain descends too — a…

Puerto Madryn & Punta Tombo – Patagonia’s Living Shores

Still waters, leaping dolphins, penguins returning Arriving in Puerto Madryn, a beautiful bay where dolphins break the still waters with sudden leaps. The air is calm, the ocean alive. Moving south to Punta Tombo, Patagonia’s edge, we walk among thousands of penguins. Each year they swim all the way from northern Brazil, returning to breed. The same couples reunite — male and female — caring for their new youngsters, guiding them to the sea. A colony in motion, timeless and tender, life repeating on the wild Atlantic shore.

Bariloche & Arrayan Forest – Alpine dream in Patagonia

Swiss-like town, shining Alpine lake, fairytale forest After a long bus ride from Puerto Madryn, crossing Argentina east to west, we arrive in Bariloche. First thought: Am I in Switzerland? The town, gorgeously situated at the shores of a shining lake, Lago Nahuel Huapi, draws crowds of Argentine travelers eager to explore. We take the bus deeper into the forest, where arrayán trees — 300 to 600 years old — stand in quiet majesty. Humbly we walk among them, gazing in wonder, as if stepping into a fairytale carved by time.

Pucon – At the Foot of Villarica

Lakeside town, smoking volcano, black sand shores Crossing the border into Chile, we arrive in Pucon, a lively town by the lake. Above it rises Villarica, a volcano that smokes quietly, a reminder of the fire beneath. The streets hum with travelers, drawn by the promise of adventure. Down at the lake, the beach is made of black volcanic sand, soft and strange beneath our feet, the water shimmering against the dark shore. Instead of climbing the peak, we slip into natural warm waters nearby, steam rising into the cool air. Here, nature feels both soothing and untamed — Pucon,…

San Pedro de Atacama – Desert of Stars –

Dry winds, moonlit valleys, endless skies Arriving in San Pedro de Atacama, one of the driest deserts on earth, we feel the stillness of the air and the laid‑back rhythm of a town filled with backpackers and dreamers. At night, the skies open wide — stars shining with a clarity found nowhere else. By day, we wander into the Valley of the Moon. Here stand The Three Marys, rock formations sculpted over millions of years by desert wind and salt erosion, also known as The Watchers. Granite, quartz, and clay shaped into figures that seem to guard the valley. The…

Along the Rail Track to Machu Picchu

Hidden tracks, gardens and waterfalls, butterflies drifting We follow the rail from the hydroelectric station, walking the line toward Aguas Calientes — an alternative path, slower, quieter, away from the crowds. At Cataratas de Mandor, a botanical garden opens into a waterfall tumbling through the jungle. Butterflies flicker in the air, bright wings wandering among the trees. The rails guide us onward, the river running beside, until the town appears — gateway to the citadel beyond.

Machu Picchu – Clouded World Wonder

Hidden citadel, fading crowds, quiet wonder The next morning we climb toward Machu Picchu. Clouds hang heavy above the terraces, drifting across the ancient stones and softening the view. The citadel feels suspended in mist, its temples and stairways wrapped in mystery. By afternoon most tourist groups have gone; only a handful remain. In the hush of the fading day, the magic of the place deepens — ruins alive with silence, history breathing through the clouds.

Santa Catalina – Silence in Ciudad Blanca

Silence – a Prayer – Colorful town within a town Silencio — the word greets us at the gate of the Santa Catalina Monastery in Arequipa, la Ciudad Blanca. Inside lies a town within a town, its streets named Calle Toledo and Calle Sevilla. For centuries, wealthy families sent one of their daughters here to dedicate their lives to prayer and worship. The walls glow in colors from ocher brown to maritime blue, while orange trees in the patios shine in the nearly constant sun. We wander through rooms where nuns once lived in humble luxury, imagining how celestial sounds…

Colca Canyon – Flight Above the Depths

Andean heights, drifting condors, endless canyon High in the Andes, at 3,700 meters above sea level, we reach the Colca Canyon — one of the deepest in the world. The air is thin, the horizon immense. From the cliffs we watch condors rise, wings spread wide, floating effortlessly above the depths. The canyon stretches below, carved by time, a landscape of silence and grandeur. Here, nature feels eternal, the flight of the condor a symbol of freedom above the Andean heights.

Puerto López – Whales of the Pacific

Rolling swells, hidden giants, tails in the air From the Colca Canyon we travel north, reaching the Pacific coast of Ecuador. In Puerto López we board a small boat, heading out to the open sea. The swells lift us up and down, a constant rhythm of water and sky. Beneath the surface, whales swim — they come here every year from the south to breed, just as penguins journey the opposite way along the continent. We stare at the restless ocean until that magic moment arrives: a whale leaps, its tail rising into the air before vanishing again into the…
