The Japanese Wife is a 2010 Indian romantic drama film written and directed by Aparna Sen. The movie tells the story of an unlikely love affair between Snehamoy, a shy school teacher from the Sunderbans, and Miyage, a young Japanese woman from Yokohama. Despite they had never met, the two form a deep bond through a series of letters, eventually deciding to get married and maintain a long-distance relationship.
