Barry Eric Odell Pain (1864–1928) was a poet, journalist, novelist and author of short stories. He was especially prolific in the period from 1890 to 1910, although he continued writing into the late 1920s.
Prior to its publication in ‘Stories in Grey’, ‘Rose Rose’ first appeared in ‘The London Magazine’, edition number 141, in May 1910.
