The Blue Angel (1930) (German: Der Blue Engel) was the first feature-length German spoken movie. It was simultaneously shot in both German and English.
The Blue Angel turned Marlene Dietrich into an international star and is one of the great classic films of German cinema. The Music is iconic and Dietrich’s performance under the German master Director Josef von Sternberg is full of sultry acting and singing. It is set against a backdrop of a world turned upside down during the Weimar Republic.
