Highlights of 2009 – Top 5
Although 2009 wasn’t a year full of optimism, the Zona Bonita team looked for some positive highlights and came with a top5.
1. Barack Obama US president.
Not only in the US, but around the world he filled many hearts and minds with hope. His story is incredible. Coming from far, becoming the democratic candidate, and than winning the elections as the first black president. For a long time, we didn’t hear a president from the US that actually had some ideas of his own, something of an ideology… Obama couldn’t have started at a more difficult time though, regarding the crisis etc. It will not be easy for him. But Obama at least deserves some time to fulfill his dreams of change. Obama also received the Noble Prize for Peace. It seems another gesture of hope.
2. Susan Boyle. 
Gave the world hope too. Coming from a small village in Scotland. Being a unmarried housewife all her life, but always having this dream of becoming a singer. And she did it!. While the jury and audience laughed about her appearance at her first presentation on Britain got Talent, she got the world at her feet after one minute of singing: ” I dreamed a dream ”
3. Juanes concert for Peace. 
Columbian singer Juanes organized a concert for peace in Cuba. Music has no frontiers. And he invited many musical friends. This is what hope is all about, just go for it. Not that easy…Juanes was threated with death, before the concert took place. Unbelievable…Not every one likes the idea of peace unfortunately. Maybe he should have deserved the Noble Prize.
4. Slum dog rules Oscar
If India ever ruled the cinema it was during the Oscar ceremony. The British – Indian co-production ‘ Slum Dog Millionaire’ received 8 Oscars. A glorious triumph for a movie with a brilliant story about a guy who through life’s experience knows all the questions in a TV quiz. There has been some polemic about the term slum dog, but that can only be an act of cynicism. If one film gives you a warm feeling and makes you feel that the real slum dogs are at the top and not at the bottom, it is this movie. There is hope for everyone….
5. Barcelona soccer champion.
Futbol club de Barcelona played beautiful soccer last year, and saw this beauty reflected in historic results. The club won everything that they possibly could win. The Spanish league, the Spanish cup (Copa del Rey), the Euro cup (Champeons League) and the World cup. To make it complete: Striker Lionel Messi was chosen as best player of the year. And that… without a name of a sponsor on their shirts…. There is still hope for this way to commercialized game.

“bad guys” and ushering in the “good guys”. You can see this in a scaled down version of the current party system in the U.S. right now and throughout it’s existence. These tactics have and will continue to be used by those who wish to hold or gain power. Research history for yourself, not doing so makes you lazy and deserving of all the things that are coming to you. Shrugging it off will not take the truth from these words. Prepare yourself for the storm coming, don’t expect other humans to come to your aide. Prepare, I suggest starting with your spirit.
I think I should just pick oscar winners. They would all be Buffy, Meryl Streep, and Anne Hathaway.. and me of course.
